A meditation retreat with Robert can be a transformative experience that positively impacts the rest of your life. Or, you might depart simply feeling happier, grounded, and more content. Robert creates an environment in which people feel safe, validated, and supported. In just a day or two, people experience love, compassion, and safety that allows both beginners and advanced meditators to access deeper dimensions of themselves than ever before. Robert has a gift for helping make mindfulness meditation accessible, powerful, and meaningful–even to those who may question its efficacy. While it is an elevated, visceral experience, he also makes the teachings clear, relevant, and applicable to everyday life.
Robert’s retreats embody the fundamental teachings of the Buddha: The Four Noble Truths, The Eightfold Path, and the practices of Insight Meditation (Vipassana), Lovingkindness (Metta), and Compassion (Karuna). Within the supportive container of noble silence you will practice sitting, walking, eating and movement meditations. You will journey through an experience that has all the power of traditional Buddhism, enriched with poetry, music, movement, and a natural openness of heart. You will learn how to transform your daily life experience into doorways to freedom and compassion. For those who seek individual guidance, Robert also provides one-to-one meetings to tailor the practice on a more personal level.

Responses to Robert's Retreats:
How will the world survive if I go on retreat for 6 days? Honestly, that was my thought! The control freak in me was screaming, but I packed up the car and went. It was a very good decision indeed. A week of quiet reflection, guided meditation, dharma talks, and long walks in the woods was just what this tired soul needed. Being away from family, work, cell phones, TV, and chores was so peaceful. I came back to these things with a new understanding and peace of mind. I felt like I had my feet back under me. And that feeling is still true for me, weeks later after retreat. Robert creates a physical and emotionally safe space to do the work one needs to do. I’m so grateful for his sharing of the Dharma and his kind presence. I’d strongly encourage others to take the opportunity of a retreat with Robert.

I feel safe, secure, and loved due to the envelope of love, compassion and refuge that you and PIMC have created and made available. Perhaps you’ve lost sight of it, but it really is astounding what you have created here. I feel so much gratitude to be here and to have found this treasured and wonderful community of loving awareness. Thank you again!

My recent retreat with Robert was a lovely blend of peaceful meditation, creative movement, sparkling poetry, music, song, and dance. The Dharma talks were rich and the Sangha connection strong–generating an abundance of love and compassion. Personal space is highly respected; "Come as you are."

Robert’s retreats have changed my life. He’s incredibly skilled at explaining Buddhist teachings as well as facilitating processes for healing the heart and mind. His biggest gift is the space he is able to create and hold. In the safety of the group, you are able to drop in and do very deep work.

I've been attending Robert’s retreats annually for almost 20 years, and they are a very valuable part of my life. I find the retreats give me the space and encouragement to delve into who I really am and what I actually want for my life. The structure and support created by Robert and Don on these retreats is a very conducive environment for me to do these personal explorations. With each retreat I gain lasting insights that are very precious to me, and there is nothing else in my life that helps me in this way. I joke that these retreats are “the best vacation you will ever have”, but I’m actually not kidding. For me they are! To have time away from my superficially overly busy life and spend time with myself is truly a gift. I highly recommend them!
