Twenty years ago on the eve of one of the Gulf Wars I was with 17 people on a pilgrimage to Thailand. We were with Ajahn Gawaseko, a direct descendant of Ajahn Chah, at his monastery on the Burmese Border. I told him that I was upset about the coming catastrophe that my country was planning and asked him what I could do. He said simply, “Practice metta, bring calm and peace to your mind and to the world”.
Once again, or perhaps still, we live in challenging times with social disorder, war and cultural conflict. All of this in addition to relationship challenges, health issues, climate change and more. We can easily get lost in fear, anxiety and anger, despair and hopelessness.

What can we do to help ourselves with this dilemma?
