His meditation training began in India in 1972. He has studied with many teachers in Burma, India and the US. His primary lineage is through Ruth Denison who named him a Dharma successor in 1982. He has been a therapist in private practice since Robert meets individually with those interested in developing a meditation practice and as a spiritual friend to those following a spiritual path. Robert's deep wisdom and compassion are animated by humor. When teaching, he uses poetry, music, and drumming to present ancient teachings in forms that can be easily assimilated by the Western mind. He takes inspiration from other spiritual traditions and is able to assist a wide range of people in deepening their inner life. In medical and business contexts he teaches mindfulness meditation for stress management and healing. |
